Quotes from NI / UK Insurance Brokers?

    Hi All,

Are there any UK or NI Insurance Brokers or firms that will quote a Republic resident on Republic plates? A better question is, are there any UK/NI based insurers outside the current Irish market players who will quote in the Republic? Car in question is considered 'performance' and won't be touched by many Irish insurers, hence, last ditch effort to get cover :pac:

    Thanks!

Unlikely. They won't be regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland so wouldn't be authorised to sell insurance cover here.

This was my concern alright. I was hoping for one or two that may not be well known or not actively promoting themselves here. As I said, last ditched efforts :(

Autoline in the North do classic insurance for southern cars. Different than a standard policy I know but maybe some companies do it.

blue insurance sell zenith insurance policy which arent regulated by the cboi
the difference is you don't get covered if they go wallop
blue insurance them selves are regulated by the cboi as a broker and zenith are regulated for business rules but they are regulated by the Gibraltar Financial services commission.

so i'd assume that its possible if an underwriter was interested but unlikely to be available as a one off

Not very helpful, but I was offered motorbike insurance by a NI company a few years back. They were actively seeking custom in the south. Can't remember their name though.

EEA insurers don't need to be regulated by cBOI only by their home state insurer. If they deal direct with customers here then they need to subject themselves to CBoI's conduct of business rules. That's why most foreign insurers - think of the large number of alloyed syndicates - deal here through brokers.

That being said, it's still more the exception than the rule as Ireland is not that profitable a market.
