Currently have a Garmin Vivoactive which shows me yardage and keeps score during rounds. App that comes with it on the iPhone isn't great though. Are there many other crossover watches anyone has used? Looking for a smart watch that can be used for golf rather than just golf specific.

I know the Apple watch can be used but battery life of u nder a day would put me off.

I had the microsoft band2 which was excellent for stats. Data out of it is really amazing. Stuff you wouldn't think of like overlaying your heartrate over your score. It has some drawbacks.

    1) Strap started cracking for me at about 3-4 months old. I returned mine.
    2) To save battery you gotta press a button to request the distances and it takes a few moments to actually retrieve that data. I could live with this.
    3) Some don't like the fit. I liked it just fine.

I also used it for cycling, sleep tracking and other stuff. Incredible device. Let down by the weak strap for me. I'll be looking for band 3.

have the microsoft band 2 as well love the golf app on it.
Only drawback on the golf side of things is that if any changes are made to the course it can take a while to show up, but there is a web function for informing them of any issues.
I didnt have the issue with the strap on mine.
Its water resistant but not waterproof so if you forget to take it off in the shower it should be ok but ideally better to take it off.
I really like the way it fit and prefer wearing the touchscreen on the inside of the wrist.
It registers each shot automatically but i found it can miss the odd putt and you need to check it after each hole but usually there's plenty of time on course to do this when others are taking their shot, walking between holes etc.
The stats on the myroundpro website are very interesting and can tell you a lot about what your misses are shot dispersion etc. but you need to spend a few minutes on the website telling it what club you hit to really benefit from the stats.
Its great when you cream a drive to see exactly how far it went.

I use the Pebble watch. This is the third version Pebble Steel. I have had all three. They work great and can be used with various different golf apps for distance and score tracking. They also work with either android or iPhone.

My favourite golf app to use is Swing by Swing.

Watch also does sleep and activity tracking. Can control your music on your phone and gives all text and call notifications you could ask for.

    Highly recommend.

Another recommendation for the Microsoft Band 2.
The partnership with Taylormade's myroundpro is terrific.

It's great for golf but does so much more too.

i have an original galaxy gear watch (Ebay €35 ) i upgraded it to the tizen software .. very easy to do .. and use that with golfpadgps app.. gives me distances to front rear and middle of green and club recomendations.
does the usual for the phone including taking phone calls via the watch ... it has a mic and loudspeaker built into the strap..

Would the Microsoft Band 2 or other multi purpose watches pale in comparison to something like the Garmin S6 for example?

they all have various pros and cons, I picked the band 2 because it automatically recorded strokes and keeps very good stats for reviewing after the round at home on the laptop, as well as being used for other activities like running etc.
The S6 is more golf specialised in that it shows a map of the hole and swing tempo etc but you have to manually record shots.
It really comes down to what you want from it, there's lots of videos on youtube reviewing each device so a good place to start would be to watch those and see which one appeals to you most.
