Some great reviews coming out of Cannes for this, so hoping it gets a release here, Nichols frequent collaborator Michael Shannon co-stars with leads Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga about a real life interracial married couple in 1960s and their civil rights case

Yes, been seeing those great reviews. Looking forward to it.

After Midnight Special came out, I googled Jeff Nichols and all his other films are above 90% on rotten tomatoes.... so.. I watched them all :) All were good.

Was ready to write him off after seeing Midnight Special. Then I saw this one was coming out and decided he deserved a second chance, glad to hear it's getting good reviews.

Ruth Negga is being tipped for an Oscar nom. Early days yet but it's great to see the Irish success of last year carrying on in 2016.

It's not being released here until Feb 3rd next year :(

I heard late summer this year for the US but maybe they've pushed it back a little to get it right into Oscar season.

Just watched this, enjoyed it a lot. It is a bit slow, and perhaps could have been trimmed by 15/20 minutes. It's a great story but the film doesn't quite do it justice. Ruth Negga and Joel Edgerton were both excellent. Overall it gets a solid 7/10.

I didn't know the details of the real life case though, quite gutting to know
that Richard Loving died seven years after being vindicated.

So I went and seen this yesterday after seeing Jackie and have to say it is an excellent film. Don,t think it was too long at all if anything it could have been longer. Ruth Negga is brilliant in it but I think Natalie Portman will win the Oscar for her part as Jackie. Joel Edgerton is also excellent I have to agree there. If you get the chance to go see this film I highly recommend going to see it.

that Richard Loving died seven years by someone who should never have been on the road a drunk driver after being vindicated. Very sad that.

There is a drama about the Loving that was made in 2010 I think have never seen it myself but its supposed to go into the case in a lot more detail.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

    Saw this today.

Having seen a few of Jeff Nichols' previous films it's pretty much what you'd expect from him. It's slow, there's a lot of quiet staring, but it works for me.
I read that he wanted to give the story back to the Lovings, so to speak, as supposed to it being this landmark Civil Rights case, he wanted to tell their story, not the story of the court case. I think that was a brave decision. Awards shows love a big courtroom drama with grandstanding and monologues and what have you, and there's none of that here. It's just the story of two people trying to live their lives and are almost accidentally responsible for this landmark ruling.

In short, I loved it, Jeff Nichols is one of my favourite film makers at the moment. Can't wait to see what's next from him. (And from Ruth Negga too, Preacher is rubbish, she deserves better)
