Has anyone done the Irish language assessment to work in the public libraries? I've heard that it's basic enough, but curious if anyone's done it recently that could give me a few pointers :)

Mods, can this be moved to Gaeilge (Irish) as I might get more of a response? Thanks

Just said I'd update for anyone fruitlessly Googling like I was last week :pac: I arrived, having prepared a few sentences about myself and did lots of exercises with Duolingo which is great to refresh grammar. The lady was very nice and told me (as Gaeilge) that she wasn't connected to the Council or Libraries and she was purely there to assess my level of Irish. I told her a bit about myself, my job, living in Dublin etc. After about 5 minutes she told me that, although they allocate 15-20 minutes per assessment, she could tell I had good enough Irish and was happy to pass me! They aren't looking for fluency, I tripped over a few sentences and made some mistakes but I understood what I was being asked and was able to make myself understood. I hadn't studied Irish since the Leaving Cert 16 years ago and got through it fine. They basically want someone who can come to the desk and help a customer through Irish if needed. Don't know when I will hear about a follow-up interview but relieved to have got through Round 1!

I've done it recently as well and I worked myself up too much about it before hand. You can do poor in it and it would barely affect your chance of getting the position.

I was told by a county librarian that anyone was ever not hired due to the Irish interview. (that's a terrible sentence)
