Can the two pin connector go in either way? If so, try turning it round.

Change the F to an E and get tippex for the other one. Sorted.

The wires for the fuel guage are on backwards.

When i say guage i mean the part on the fuel pump swap those two wires and it will work.

What have you tried so far?

If you have eliminated incorrect wiring as the cause then it stands to reason the fault is with the new sender itself. There is very little to these. Was it already attached to the pump on receipt? Any way it is operating upside down?

Any way to put up a picture of the old unit to see what we're dealing with?

You should test the sender for resistance at empty and full. Device could be faulty.

The ohm reading when the sender is high (tank full) should be lower then when the tank is empty.

    Typically 50ohms full, 300ohms empty.
Ensure the red meter lead is on the signal terminal (typically the middle) and the black lead is on the ground.
