Evening show is a repeat of a random show, not always that mornings and sometimes they use the same shows again and again

Agreed, the evening show is hard to listen to if you're a regular listener.

Anyone know how it's doing in the ratings since they moved to 98fm?

it had 35,000 in the last book which is pretty decent

How is that decent? i think that show has grown by 2,000 listeners since it started. Spin talk has more listeners and they are a fraction of the talk shows on other stations at that time. They also had many more listeners at late night on 104.

I suspect they were hoping to have a much bigger listenership that 35k!

There was just over 25,000 listeners when they started out at 98fm (half of Barry Dunne's old slot) so 35,000 in two years is decent in my opinion. Spin Talk has been in decline for the last two years (lost 4,000 last year) and 104 is down to 27,000.

That's factually incorrect their first JNLR book was about 33k. Spin is still a good bit ahead despite losses. Not long till that show gets the chop or is moved.

It definitely wasn't over 30k, it was between 25-29k because I remember Adrian saying it on either the radiotoday or 738am podcast.

The facts speak for themselves, I suggest you check the JNLR boom for when he started.

Check iLevel if you want the facts, they don't show JNLR for individual shows going back that far so I don't know where you're getting your figures unless you work in the industry.

Chilloutrelax is 100% correct, Adrian and Jeremy's first book showed them to have 33,000.

For a financial outlay of roughly 200,000 pa I would be considerably disappointed with an increase of 2,000 if I were in management at 98.

Interesting. So what were the figures when they were on FM104?

How about Niall Boylan on Classic hits 4fm, what kind of figures has he?

Comparing daytime to nighttime figures is inaccurate enough as to be useless - there are vastly more people listening during the daytime.

Absolutely and bare in mind that it was a brand new show with no history so they were starting from scratch essentially.

Starting from scratch and no history?? Adrian had the number 1 night time show, a talk show, in Dublin for about 15 years. He was/is possibly the most well known radio presenter on Dublin stations and had one of the most recognisable shows and brands. Jeremy similar but to a lesser extent.

I don't blame them for the poor showing, 98fm is a mess. Dublin Talks throws the day schedule out of synch. Going from a light hearted breakfast show to Dublin Talks then a general music show is a mis match.

You completely misunderstood what I said, the show was a brand new show as opposed to the show being pre-existing under a different presenter so in that sense they did start from scratch.

It is ridiculous to suggest that they started from scratch. There was already an audience there which they had to maintain, and they did. What they have failed to do is add to that audience in sizeable numbers and I'd imagine that is what the top brass expected of them.

What I'm wondering is if contract negotiations have opened between A&J and Communicorpas the current agreement expires next year? If not I'd say how good or bad the remaining quarters this year will give a good indication as to whether those negotiations happen or not.

One more question ; if 98 pull the lads from their current slot, would they happily go back to nights? On 98 or possibly back on 104? With Chris Barry finishing up later this year the situation throws up a lot of interesting possibilities.

    Is this confirmed?

Spot on analysis. A reality check!
