    Folks,
The Garda Vetting process takes about 5-6 weeks from submission of forms to actual letter confirming vetting process is complete.
What is the legislation around youth clubs while vetting process is pending.
The applications have been completed and sent and just waiting on confirmation, can a person continue to volunteer based on application is in progress?

No... the law changed on 29th April this year when the vetting act came into law. So - no one can begin in any position volunteering or working with children unless they have been vetted in advance. If they are not vetted in advance - the organisation is breaking the law and can face a fine of up to 10k or 6 months in jail!

having said all that - electronic vetting came into place on 29th april also and is being rolled out across the country to groups. At the moment, e-vetting is taking less than a day so there is no reason not to wait!
