Retainers before Braces- Anyone Advise?

I need to get a retainer for 6 months before I start orthodontic treatment as I grind at night and my teeth are worn. I will need to wear the retainer 24hrs a day which I am not looking forward to, I talk a lot in my job and also in general :). Can anyone share any advice or guide me on what to expect with speech/eating…
