I just serviced the freehub on my Aksiums and i've a feeling something isn't right since i put it back together. Firstly i couldn't find the oil that i have used without any issue before so i used another oil which turned out to be too thick and the wheel would hardly spin.

When i found the oil i used before i degressed the freehub and applied the oil and put it all back together it all seemed normal. I took it out for a spin last night at it seemed ok, no play in the wheel,no noise from the freehub and when i spin the wheel backwards by hand the pedals, chain, cassette all turn but when i spin the wheel forward by hand it stops after about 5 seconds. I tried this with my Campagnolo wheels and it spun for about 15 seconds.

Is this normal for Mavic wheels or is the freehub just busted and not running smoothly.

There should be noise from the freehub. if you cant hear the "clicking" noise as the freehub spins, then IMO, you have used oil that is too thick. When applying oil to the pawls in a freehub, I usually use spray oil. 3 in 1 or equivalent is too thick.

Yes its clicking alright. It just stops a bit too fast.
What i meant by noise was, the screeching sound that a worn out freehub is meant to make

if it was me I'd strip it down and wipe away the excess oil and re-assemble. No need to degrease. Its a minor issue really.
