I'm starting a kitchen extension in 2weeks and am struggling to find a company to look after the supply, pour and polish of concrete for the floor. We really want to have a polished concrete floor but there seem to be few provider who look after it from start to finish. The ones that do just seem to name their price and it's proving to be extortionate! Any advice or recommendations appreciated. Build is in Dublin 8

The polishing companies typically have a list of "contractors" who they recommend to pour the concrete before they come in and polish. I investigated it 6 months or so ago and was given the names of specific guys that they recommended.... I decided not to proceed for various reasons but talk to the polishers!

    good luck,

Had the same experience as above. The polishing guys only polish but talk to them first as they will recommend people and go through with them and yourself the finishes, details, expansion joints, etc.

Are you talking about polishing only, or grinding and polishing?

I've found the opposite, most of the ones I've talked to want to look after the pour themselves. Apparently, the pouring is just as important as the polishing because if the concrete is tramped down too much or too wet it can really muck up the end result.

Expect costs of 100E plus per meter to 150E for regular gray mix, ground and polished. 200E per meter plus for coloured/white.

For supply, laying and polishing of 280M squared I got a quote of 15K plus VAT.
Rises to 30K upwards if you want ground (aggregate showing) as well.

I can PM you on details of some suppliers I have been impressed by if you wish.
