Uneven tyre wear

I recently had two new rear tyres put on my car and the fronts are at about 5mm. Shortly after the new tyres were put on I noticed a vibration at around 60 - 70 mph that dissipated either side of those speeds. Just before I want back to the fitters I noticed that the near side front tyre has really excessive wear on the extreme outer edge, and none of the other tyres show any sign of uneven wear.

The wear is strange in that it varies in thickness around the circumference of the tyre from about 5mm to 20mm and that if you run your had along the tyre it feels bumpy, undulating, which could explain the vibration. It's rear wheel drive by the way. Despite plenty of tread being left on the tyre, I'll now have to replace it shortly

The tyre fitter corrected the tracking but due to the ununsual wear on the tyre, he wondered if it could be the shocks. The vibration is still there despite the tracking and alignment being done

The car has full service history which I want to maintain. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced an issue like this, and what would be the best approach to determining the cause of the issue, should I go to my main dealer (and feel the pain) or get the cause diagnosed elsewhere first?

    Thanks

Had the tyre pressure been checked on them regularly?

Either get the tyre fitter to look at the tracking again, bring it to another tyre fitter to look at the tracking or bring it to the dealer to look at.

Patchy wear like that is usually down to worn suspension components, could be ball joints, shocks, bushes etc.
You really need to have a check done for wear of the components and replace whatever part is worn before you go too much further.
Once the parts are identified and replaced get a 4 wheel alignment done as well.
A decent Indy should be able to diagnose the issue.

    Thanks lads,

Could you recommend a place to do check in South/South West Dublin? It's a BMW if that makes a difference
