Hello - eir are in the process of connecting the fibre cables on the telephone wooden poles in our village and they are getting nearer and nearer to the Cabinet and we are going to end up in the village getting FTTC broadband. so the cabinet is not live at the moment but when it does what do I as a consumer have to do (if anything) to make sure my my modem router (which is a vodafone HG658c) latches onto the VDSL signal?

    - will the service still come up the same telephone socket/line and plug into the DSL socket as normal on the back of the modem router or would i need a different modem? - we are around 400 mtrs from the cabinet. I am getting roughly 8mbs download by ADSL2+ which slows down certain parts of the day/night due to contention , will there be any contention issues when the cabinet has fibre installed to it? - what rough could i expect download on VDSL when the cabinet becomes FTTC Live? up to 80mbps maybe?

What will the procedure be, will my provider (vodafone at home broadband) contact me to say that the FTTC cabinet is now live and to change some settings on my modem/router or will they initiate it their end automatically using the TR069 thing and changing it to VDSL automatically?

    Thanks.

Not automatic, you must order it. They may make an outbound sales call, maybe not. If you're eager don't wait.

Same modem(which tbh is poor for a fast connection)but they'll fit the new socket if you don't have one. You have to be home for the appointment.

You may only get 50-60Mb if its not vectored, probably will be though so maybe 70-80Mb.
