New heat pump rusting

    Hi
Could someone take a look at attached pic please. Moved into house last month with an outdoor Panasonic heat pump. I've since noticed that there's a large area of rust on it, probably from poor care when installing and the metal chipped and is now rusting. What would you do in this situation? Is this an easy DIY repair or should I be getting someone to look at it in order to keep the warranty?

    Thanks

I would lift the lid a little and get at that area with a wire brush and then rust primer and good paint then. Turn off power before opening lid and use a damp rag to catch the rust.
