    Hi,

Just wonder if anyone knows who the "Motorway Maintenance" vehicles actually work for / represent. I see them the odd time on the motorway and not without any company on the side. Are they government vehicles?

Any car or van working on a motorway has to have markings and the words maintenance on the back. Its a EU rule.

So it could be many companys, engineers & road workers cars.

If it's on the M50 it would be M50 Concession employees, seeing as they are in charge of the M50 as part of the PPP contract.

Most of the other ones I've seen are Egis Lagan units.

Many of the ones on the roads here belong to contractors and sub contractors who have worked on motorways in the UK as well as here. Basically having"motorway maintenance" and the proper high vis coats would be a requirement of any motorway works contract. Many traveller men of Irish decent in the UK work on the roads and motorways and would usually have some vehicles related to that. So basically seeing any vehicle with motorway maintenance on the back means very little unless it is involved in actual motorway maintenance.
