Can't find a home for this post so parked it here. The Dublin city traffic cameras on line present several images of live traffic (minus 10 minutes). While the images are good ,there is no way of telling North or southbound movement of traffic. Has anybody figured this one out.

If its rush hour you're travelling at, you are better listening to 103.2 fm. 7-10am and 4-7pm.
    You can listen on dublincityfm.ie

They do a traffic info show from the Dublin City Traffic Centre. They have live access to all the cameras across Dublin and people text in journey times and incidents as they happen.

They also can give you alternative routes if one happens to be extremely busy.

Great show and has saved me hours of being stuck in traffic.

Look for the shadow of the trucks in the sunlight

Seems odd looking for shadows on an image when so much was involved putting up those images.

just look up nratraffic.ie It gives junction-to-junction journey times for the M50 and other motorways plus info on any incidents.

It wouldn't hurt if they actually used a N symbol on their images.

The cameras don't always point in the same direction as they can be rotated by a controller in the traffic centre.

Although some type of indication as to the view would be handy. Looking at shadows is useless if it's dark or if we're having some typical Irish weather.

I agree its a great show tho I find the 4-7pm show much better than the 7-10am.

The girl in the morning spends too much time asking people to text in for some voting for your favourite singer for the day or something and plays too much music ,she rarely asks for journey times .

John on the 4-7 show is much more interested in journey times and is much more accurate l find.

Google Maps has a traffic overlay too, on your phone / web.
So you can see where there's heavy congestion before you leave.

    Basic rule of thumb:
Avoid M50 southbound in morning rush hour
Aboid M50 northbound in evening rush hour

No, there are not. The gantries and lines were put in many years ago but no cameras were ever installed.

Not sure if this is any use..

It's handy for knowing where the cameras are.. just click on them on the map..
