Just came up in conversation. Most people seem to think RTE/TV license payer but I`ve always thought it was state funded.

The gays, a levy on drinks in the George throughout the year.

Since the kids started pre drinking we can't afford to send proper talent :D

I dont understand why we cant send amazing sean dancers and Irish music.Showcase our amazing culture ..we would win everytime.Eimear Quinn riverdance instead we send turkeys and jedward? Its quite obvious we don't want to win cos we don't want to host it!!

Why would we win everytime? Is Irish culture inherently better than other European countries? What if all the other countries sent the best that they could offer?
The problem with Ireland is you have the eurovision traditionalists who can't get over the fact its not 1986 anymore....get with the times and adapt. If you send a good song you'll do well(France this year for example)

Didn't we have a very Irish entry in the last ten years (Dervish)? That didn't do too well! (Just checked: they came last.)

Ireland had only won it twice up to 1986, but then 5 times in the next 11 years.

Its not 1994 then, the riverdancing was an amazing moment in eurovision history but looking back it takes itself so seriously.

Riverdance was an interval act not an entry.

Jedward has been our most successful Eurovision act since 2000.

I'm no fan of Nicky Byrne but calling him a turkey is a bit harsh.

Yes, and commercially funded through advertising and sponsorship.

It's amazing how much shíte our license fee is supposed to pay for. Even if there was 100% compliance there'd still be a shortfall.

Maybe Putin should send bears on unicycles.

Does there really need to be two threads on the Eurovision or should I say Worldvision contest.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Ok guys. It's time I come clean.

I've been funding our Eurovision entries for years.

But since ye all can't stop complaining I'm pulling the plug. No more Eurovision for ANYONE!

Now see how ye like it!

Aghhhh I miss the glory days when we won 4/5 years in the early 90s, this being my personal favourite.

TBH we should send back Dustin the Turkey. To do a duet with Jedward. And have it written by the people that wrote "Rock n Roll Kids".
