Will ireland ever have premium / super grades of petrol diesel again ?

I hope that couche tard ( circle K) Will reintroduce these fuels, but I hold out little hope.

The majority of cars don't require them nor is there much demand for a dearer product (which is how the masses will see it).
For the fuel distributor, there's higher costs for both storage and delivery.
Doubtful that it will return IMO.

Doubt it will return as price per liter for standard is higher priority for most.

You might look into additives that boost octane level

Wasn't it withdrawn due to poor sales?

I doubt it'll return, but with modern engines becoming more sensitive to fuel quality, I live in hope that higher quality fuels become available (even though they may not be value for money)

I'm currently adding 2-ehn to my diesel, which Is the additive in premium diesel, and I find that it does improve performance and definitely decreases engine nose.

Probably a combination of poor sales and the requirement for 5% of all fuel to be bio, eco friendly stuff.

So instead of pushing e85 to get the average down, they just made everything 5% ethanol.

In the uk, depending on where you buy your petrol, you might be getting 5% ethanol or 0% ethanol.

It all depends on the refinery your garage gets it's fuel from

I know here in Australia, any petrol car I've had (1.8L Lancer estate & currently 2.5L Forester) I get much better fuel economy per tank, smoother running and what seems like a bit more response from the throttle using premium/expensive petrol without a doubt to the tune of about 100km (25% more) per tank using premium as opposed to regular.
Any Ethanol fuel just runs rough as hell, probably lose 150-175km per tank compared to premium.

The cost of premium petrol can be a big difference but the economy, performance and hopeful engine longevity is worth the extra expense.

As for diesel, I can't see any difference. I've had 3.0 non turbo hilux 4x4, 3.0 D$D hilux 4x4, Holden colorado (Isuzu Dmax) 4x4, Ford Ranger (Mazda BT50) 4x4 and my old 4.2 straight 6 Landcruiser 4x4, my current Mitsubishi Triton 4x2 and diesel is pretty much diesel when your displacement is that big. Perhaps it makes a bigger difference with smaller engines?

I'd prefer to pay that little bit extra for pure petrol or pure diesel, and possibly that bit more for super.

If I recall, the budget kept putting extra duty on premium fuels... that may have been the killer

How is cost of delivery or storage higher ? Is it heavier ? :) why would the storage cost be higher ? DUDE what did you base that opinion on?
I would definitely buy premium diesel. I travel to Germany every now and then and they do have premium diesel there. Compared to German diesel the one we have in Ireland is like cabbage water...

You might be better off asking them through PM as this thread is 2 years old.

Ignoring the fact that this thread is two years old, the storage costs in terminals and petrol stations would drive up prices especially given that it is not a big seller in Ireland. Its fairly simple economics really.
