Round 1 was at Spain this weekend.

Both the Main Race and Sprint Race had some brilliant wheel to wheel racing. Interesting to see how the 'Red Bull' drivers progress with this series - I'd expect to see Gasly in F1 next year at Toro Rosso, if not this year if something happens with some musical chairs going on and an unhappy Kyvatt being shafted further.

Sirotkin had a great run yesterday until his mistake causing him to spin and stall the car. He has a decent first few laps in the sprint gaining 10 places. One to watch, he was brilliant last year.

Both Spanish races were marred by safety cars, and we didn't get to see how potentially the tyres could have fallen off the cliff under full race conditions.

    Some decent racing worth watching.

Was a big crash just before end of todays race, driver okay I think

Just noticed 52s into video marshal running to the car before if hits barrier, slightly risky, fortunately loose wheel doesnt go too far

Round 2 feature at Monaco today at 10.15am. On Setanta Ireland channel (and probably Sky F1).

A few qualifying penalties means a couple of guys have to start from the pit lane for this race. That'd be Gasly and Canamasas. Gasly is super quick so I expect him to be attempting many over taking moves and with the tight circuit it might end up in tears.

Sirokin up on pole and would favour him for the win.

Well, that was a quite a drama. The VSC works quite well and the marshals are unbelievably quick at clearing all the problems! Worth a watch if you get a chance..

Crazy, crazy race. Did Markelov speed during the VSC? Gained something like 33 seconds. There will be definitely more about it later

Great race to watch. So has anyone seen an explanation anywhere about how he was able to make up so much time under VSC to win?

I watched a playback from lap 35, Markelov was doing laps +2.000 secs faster than anyone else.

He had 24secs gap to Nato when the VSC came out on lap 37, on lap 39 the gap says 49sec but I reckon that's just the slow time gap at the sector because of the VSC. I think the commentators just didn't consider it. The 24sec gap is the real racing gap. That's enough, I think, to stick in a decent in-lap for the tyre change and get out again in front.

    Impressive from 15th to 1st.

Markelov's engineer: "Winner, winner, chicken dinner" :D

I didn't get to see the Main Race of the Baku GP2 but heard it was hectic and perhaps a sign of things to come. Will catch up on Setanta later today...

Safety car was out a bit too often, 3 times in first 10 laps and then out for while near end. Some good action with only half the cars finishing.

No virtual safety car and with the long track physical safety car timing was awkward at at times

A GP2 Main race of everything at Spielberg. Bizarre as described by the commentator, Alex Jacques.

Having it raining on one side of the track and dry on the other worked really well. I missed tbe last few laps so didnt get to see how it ended. But was fun race

Sprint race at 10.15. Championship decider!!

Gasly leading the championship by 12 points over Giovanazzi.

Gasly starting in 8th on the grid with Gio starting in 3rd. 15 points for a win today. Gio needs to win with Gasly coming 7th or more...
