I'm planning a school tour for primary school involving a trip on the train starting out in Drogheda. Are there any points of interest, playgrounds or nice parks within walking distance of any of the stations, from Dundalk to Dublin?

Malahide Castle is lovely, and isn't far from the station.

Skerries could be good but a short bus trip is needed from the station.

The watermill and windmills at Skerries, surrounded by parkland.

Both of these look very good. Skerries mill looks walkable from the station based on Google maps. Is that road safe for walking along? Likewise, I wonder is Mallahide station to the castle a safe walk? Thanks to you both for the replies

Yes, I think both have footpaths, but Malahide has a busy road for a very short distance from the station entrance to the gate of the castle demesne.

Malahide train station to the castle grounds is a short hop.
But it's a dangerous crossing because of the hump in the road at the bridge.

If I was bringing primary school kids then i'd probably walk them down to the village, cross at the traffic lights, then walk back up to the castle. It will add 5/10 minutes to your journey but it's a lot safer.

The road from the station in Skerries is fine. You will have to cross the Dublin road to get into Millhill estate and to the Mills, but that's not especially dangerous. Traffic would almost always stop to let a group across here.

Balbriggan station is on the beach; leave the station by the path to the south, down the hill, and left under the line.
