house extension-. entrance to house

we are thinking of appplying for permission to build an extension to my mothers house which is located down a quiet byroad. We will renovate her part of the house internally. we are going to build an new extension and live in that. There is only one existing entrance to the site which is at mothers side of the house. the house is over fifty years old and her entrance on to the road is poor by way of sight and we have to use a mirror on the opposite side of the ditch which in fairness works very well. there has never been an accident coming outof it.

    I have 2 questions

If we continue to use the existing entrance will it be an issue with the council by enforcing us by way of a condition to move the entrance back a few metres and knocking ditches to improve sight of vision. Does the fact that planning was granted orginally for the site entrance uphold and that building an extension onto a house has no consequence on this.

If we requested we want a seperate entrance for our side of the house which would be 30 metres from the original existing entrance. I guess it would be conditional of moving the ditch back and build a wall along the road. This would cost alot of money . Also there is mature oak trees and telephone line along it. If they made it a condition, could we say want to withdraw the new entrance and use the existing site entrance.

I have no experience in this area but would like to have any advise out there before we get an engineer.

    any advice appreciated:)

In short, no, existing entrance. If you can improve sightlines then go ahead and do it.
