    anyone Google maps on I Phone when travelling abroad, need to get from ferry terminal to campsite in france and was wondering if the I Phone would work

    have unlimited data on my package but not sure how would work with roaming

    You will need to enable data roaming on your iPhone settings and your tariff will need to have roaming unbarred.
    Contact your phone provider, explain you are travelling, and ask them what the best package they have for roaming.

    Data roaming just lets you use data abroad.

    Your provider should have roaming package available for you; all depends on the provider. Who are you with?

    Downloading a free offline mapping app before you go would be a more sensible option. Navmii is the one I use but others are available.

    I user the Here Maps app, allows you to download offline maps that show your position using GPS, not data. It's a bit of a battery hog but is so much better than Google Maps for roaming.

    Google maps allows you to download offline maps. Very handy when out and about in a city.

    Don't think you'll have navigation services without a data connection, but you'll have a map.
