    Q1: I have paid since the start - now what?

    No final policy change resulting from current political talks has been conveyed to Irish Water.  When we are informed by government of any final policy decisions that affect Irish Water or water charges we will provide an update to our customers.

    Q2: I am on a boil water notice. Am I entitled to a discount?

    Any household affected by a Boil Water Notice for more than 24 hours will receive a 100% discount on the water entering their property. If you affected by a Boil Water Notice for more than 24 hours and do not see this discount applied to your Irish Water bills, please accept our sincere apologies that this has not been applied and we will look into it immediately for you.

    In order to rectify this, would you mind providing the following details by PM?

    - Name;
    - Address;
    - Contact number; and
    - Confirm that you are the account holder.

    Alternatively, if you would prefer to call, you can contact us on 1850 448 448 and a member of our team will be happy to update this.

    Q3: What is the average usage for a property?

    From our meter reading of a 3-month period in 2015, the average consumption for a typical property with one adult occupant was calculated to be approximately 148 litres of water per day. That would equate to about 54 cubic metres of water per year for that one person. This example is based on properties where there are no leaks or extremely high levels of consumption that would distort the calculations.

    There have been some questions about why we have reported lower figures elsewhere. This is because the amount of water used per person increases in smaller steps as more people are living in the property. In other words a house with 4 people does not use 4 times as much water as a house with one person. For example, a family of 2 adults and 2 children would use 119 m3/yr, which is only 82 litres per person per day. As the numbers of persons increases, the consumption per person drops.

    An average property, with average occupancy rates, uses about 114 litres/hd/day, based on our metering data gathered to date.

    Q4: How can I cancel my Direct Debit?

    We can certainly help you, if you PM the following details:

    - Name;
    - Address;
    - Contact number; and
    - Confirm if you are the account holder.

    Q5: Received a bill - new tenant

     If you would like us to look into any billing queries you may have, we will be more than happy to help.

     If you can confirm the following details, we will be able to look into your account and talk to you about your bills, specifically:

    - Name;
    - Address;

    - Confirm that you are the account holder.
