    Hey guys,
Throwing this up on behalf of a friend.
Basically he's got a desktop to all the heavy grunt work for editing but it is looking to upgrade his laptop to log footage on the go with final cut pro.

He's been using a Mac book Pro 4.1 and was recommended to increase performance to upgrade the hardrive to a SSD and upgrade the ram.

The only issue with the ram is while the specs say it can accept 6GB of ram it will only take DDR2 not DDR3(well from where's he's checked).

Although an issue being where he's looked there is a significant price difference between the 2(DDR2 being a fair bit more expensive).

So a question being would anyone recommend a site to get laptop ram at a decent price and also for increased performance would SSD or an upgrade to the ram make more of a difference?

    Thanks

DDR2 would put it at about 8-10 years old. Not worth money investing into.

What is his budget. Like all electronics, there is a large variety in what you can get with differing amounts of money.

Ya I think his macbook is around 8 years old.

Think he only has a small budget to upgrade the ram.
