Noob bike rack query

    Hello

I got a bike rack for the car. The box said its compatible with my car (Skoda Octavia, 2007).

I fit it last night and it's secure. But have I fit it correctly?

Top straps on window - is this okay? I didn't put on the window attachment because I couldn't see where they go. But the video said it was okay to attach directly.

    Side straps on the boot.

    Bottom straps on the bumper.

Now - another question. Is it okay that the bar is resting on the window? Or have I put it on wrong?

Attaching a picture. Hope it works.

    Appreciate any advice!!

I could be wrong but I would have thought it was supposed to sit lower?

I too suspect it's too high.
You're obscuring the numberplate at the moment, which won't sit well with those tasked with upholding the laws of the land.

Shouldn't be resting on the number plate.

The bottom part goes on the top of the bumper

If you loosen the top straps it will sit down to the top of the bumper - the angle of the bike supports will change a bit too.

You need to adjust the arms to be just pointing up 10 degrees or so.
The attachment straps are fine, but have it sitting lower as mentioned.

I travelled 3k km with the same rack last year no bother.
Just tighten the straps again after you load the bikes, the ones at the bottom of the boot tent to loosen under load.

Also, bars that hold the bikes should be more horizontal - not fully, but less upright than it is at the moment.

I think that looks like the Rack I got from Micks Garage for my 2009 Skoda.

The loose leads on the Left and Right need to go into the Arms of the Book Lid. There are 'Hard' ends on same and you need to put then thru the Boot Arms and then close the boot. Then pull the leads hard thru and the hard end will catch under the Boot Arms. Then attach the leads to the Rack and pull tight.

    Hope this makes sense.

PS..... I sit it on the Number Plate.

As others have said lower - I think this is what you're aiming for:
