How long was your recruiting process?

I've relocated back to Dublin recently and have had 5 final round interviews over the last three weeks. I'm still waiting on decisions with the longest being 15 days now.
This is quite unusual for me when thinking about previous experience over the last 15 years.

What is the longest recruiting process that you have endured?

5 rounds of Interview? Wtf? Are you a doctor:)

What happened in each round? Seems excessive

I read it as 5 different interviews

    Personally
Current job 1st interview August ,final interview in late November offer in December started in Feb.

    Longest about 12 years ago
Final interview in early December ,offer in March (I know I was second choice in that one )

Job I am in now less then 24 hours ha ha. I applied got email like 2 hours later saying was I free for phone interview in a hour. I said ya as was my lunch.

Took phone call lasted about 30 mins was a chat more then anything ha ha. Asked me Linux stuff and so on. Still confused about this phone call as I meet my girlfirend after it and she was wondering how it went. I don't what kind of interview I had ha ha. But this is prob one of the lest strange things about the company I work for

Phone call the next day from a odd number offering me the job and contact emailed that day.

IT jobs are strange ha ha.

Its a few years ago now but 3 months in total from first phone interview, the ridiculous invasive stressful process in between to actual job offer date.

Interviewed in March. Started in June.
2 interviews. 2nd being more of a chat with the director.
Had to see out 1 month notice too.
None of this 4 round interview malarky!

What the hell. I can honestly say I did not laugh at that once.

Yes it's so f'ing tedious but this is an expected amount these days. Any private sector company worth its stuff would have a background check which itself can take up to a month - HireRight come to mind.

Went for an interview 4pm last Thurs for a job i had applied for on the Monday. Was offered the job about 11.30 on the Friday morning. It would have been faster apparently but the boss lady doesn't work Fridays. Is a contract tho, not a permanent job.

Good to hear the stories. Hopefully we can keep building on it because it will be a good resource for people to reference during the job hunt.

    An update on my situation

-One offer received for a Sys Admin position. Not sure if I will accept yet.
-No feedback from one company after 3 weeks (Internal restructuring I understand)
-Another company have provided no feedback. Extremely rude.
-Refused from one because of lack of NGO experience despite being told that I present myself well and have all of the technical abilities. Frustrating.
-Final round interview tomorrow for my number one choice
-Am currently in initial discussions with 3 other companies

On the market 3 weeks now. This is the longest I have ever waited to be honest and it was stressing me out last week. My attitude now is to enjoy my days and no doubt I will be wishing for a day off shortly upon signing a contract :)

I think it was about 2.5-3 months for my current position? I applied in May, did online aptitude testing, then a 1st interview and then a final interview. Found out I had it in August and started in October.

This was for a graduate programme with 1000+ applicants so I imagine it took a while to go through all those CVs and then interview a certain percentage... I found out after starting that people who were actually in with a shot of getting on the programme were fast tracked after the 1st interview. Basically you could also be considered for other entry level positions when you applied and it turns out I already knew I had the job before other applicants had even had their 2nd interviews! And I had thought my waiting around was bad enough!

    I have accepted an offer.

The recruitment process for the company that I have ended up going with was this.

    Interview Monday at 9am.
Call back for second interview at 9.30am on Tuesday.
Second round interview at 3pm on Thursday.
Job offer and acceptance at 4pm on Friday.

A quick and organized process. Some companies are a disgrace with their recruitment process!

I'm used to 5 year background checks but 10 years I thought was a bit ridiculous.

Confirmed time for interview on a Friday, interview Tuesday afternoon, offer made while I was on a train to Gatwick Tuesday evening.

Longest? Five callbacks (initial screening interview, formal interview, second formal interview, "meet the people you would be working directly with" interview, and "trial day of work") for an IT analyst position in the oil industry in the US. To add insult to injury, I was being sent for the position by an agency with which I had been listed for four months and had met with the agency rep three times. Not counting the agency time, the recruitment process took six weeks, and I had to wait an additional two weeks to get a company computer issued to me after I formally started.

    +1
I wouldn't bother with fcuking around for weeks and months. You want an IT person with German? Alrighty then! Talk to the agency, do interview at my present company, do phone interview, you're hired.
You want me to do weeks of interviews, tests, psycho analysis, background checks, ah fcek off, go find yourself someone else. I'm sure you will be inundated with multilingual IT people. :D Having said that, it depends on the job, interview for a phone monkey such as myself should be a lot less complicated.

Oh, well, shortest? A friend who owns a small IT firm called me and said, "I saw on Facebook that your latest job offer fell through; I'm so sorry. But hey, we were thinking of hiring a support person and we can pay (X), what do you think?" :D

I'm in a steady position at the moment but I have an interview for another position next week. Not even sure I would take the other job if it was offered, I suppose I'll have to see what they are offering and make a decision (if I do get an offer of course)

If I was offered the new position, how long could I ask to think about it and get back to them?

I've just been offered a position for a job I first applied for back in 2014! Public sector. Not sure yet if I'll accept it ... even if I do, it'll be 6-8 weeks at least I imagine before I'd actually start, with Garda vetting and reference checks and all the rest.

I can't stand overly lengthy recruitment processes..Personal experience (bear in mind this isn't for an overly senior role or anything and I was led to believe that not many were interviewing for the role):-

    1) Job vacancy arises at beginning of March- deadline for applications is end of March

    2) Called for interview in 2nd week of April, 2 weeks after deadline and about a month after applied for job (actually forgot I applied for it) however interview isn't for another 10 days

    3) attend for interview in what is now the end of the 3rd week of April.

    4) 5 days later get call for second interview which is a further 7 days later

    5) Attend second and final interview which is now the 2nd week of May and suddenly they huff and fuss when you tell them that you need to see out a month's notice- "Ohh, we'd really like to have someone start the first week of June".. WELL IF YOU HAD HAVE MOVED YOUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS ALONG QUICKER I PROBABLY COULD HAVE!!!
