Any tips for getting Canadian dollars?

Hi Relation going to Canada and I wanted to give them some dollars. I haven't been keeping an eye on the exchange rates, do they fluctuate much? I'm wondering should I just go for it or wait til it hits a certain rate. Also is cash a good idea, or some kind of temporary money card? Thanks in advance.

Use currency fair and send it to them when they have a bank account. I used them for the first time the other day. Really good service and by far the best rate!
