    Hi guys,
I recently purchased a mobile home with a Paloma gas water heater PH-5lfe already installed. There was no manual with it and on the side it says propane and butane. I was wondering if you could tell me which type of gas this uses? Why does it say propane and butane on it? Our hob is butane and I wanted to be sure what the water heater needs before I get any gas at all. Thank you!

Your confused OR YOU ARE USING A NAT GAS HOB WITHOUT CONVERSION.

Nat gas is methane and does not come in a bottle but through the gas network, bottled gas normally used in mobile homes are either butane or propane.

Okay yeah I think I'm confused.

The guy we bought it from said it was natural gas and he also said you can buy it in a bottle. He said natural gas is butane but I guess he was wrong.

So can it be converted to use propane instead? Sorry for all the questions but I haven't a clue about any of this.

If it is a nat gas hob and is being used on a bottled gas then along with being very dangerous and producing high levels of Carbon Monoxide it would also amost curtainly be blackening your pans with soot.

A nat gas hob could be converted simply to bottled gas.
