Does the bios screen (the one that shows the make/model of the laptop and the "tap f8 to go in to safe mode" prompt) show at all?
Have you tried to hook it up to an external monitor to double check?

    What's the make / model?

The laptop is 6/7 years old. It's worth very little to be honest.

Does it keep running after you turn it on? So the screen is blank at all times, but does the fan come on, can you see any lights etc?

Not worth much, can't see ANY complete ones on ebay, you might get e50 for the parts separately (disk, ram, keyboard, case, wifi card, battery etc). Wipe the disk or take it out if so.

edit: I have bought better working laptops for e50 ...

Realistically, that laptop is worth nothing. I can't see anyone giving you any money for the parts. It might not be as dead as you seem to think, but if you have the replacement then perhaps its not worth the effort. Perhaps there's a charity that would take it?

Camara in Sandyford send computers to Africa, great endeavor. Helped some inordinate number of schoolchildren. If you're passing them worth dropping it in.
