I came across this station by chance the other day. They're testing for an upcoming station, which will be all (or mostly) soul music. I know they have an online stream too, but from what I've heard, it sounds really promising with an extensive playlist of (mostly) great music. Over the last three days, there has been no repetition. Well, not from what I've heard so far anyway. I'm not sure of the exact frequency, but the dial is around the 92FM point, but I think it's a bit different in the car.

This is a pirate station on 92.0 FM in Dublin. It has been broadcasting since the 19th of March this year, doing "test transmissions".

During the week, Soul City turned up on 88.1 in Dublin. I presume this is the return of the pirate of the same name from 2016, but I could be wrong in thinking that. Strange things have been happening on the airwaves of late!

I noticed since yesterday that it is also being broadcast on 1395 kh on MW/AM, home of Energy (Power) AM. I heard it a few times today around Stillorgan, Ballinteer and Dundrum on AM. It is particularly strong on that frequency. i tuned it in on the kitchen radio for a period and the signal was excellent. Incidentally, the signal on 88.1 was not great in the car.

An English guy was presenting this morning - a very professional sounding presenter. He mentioned 1395 AM as one of the ways to hear Soul City, so there must be yet another arrangement with the crowd at Energy. I later heard an American-sounding voice, who I think I may have heard on Energy. A little later again I heard another English voice. But in case you are in any doubt, Soul City was mentioned a few times and Dublin, i.e. it is not a relay of an non-Irish station.

This is yet another unexpected development in the Dublin pirate scene in 2018, particularly the use of non-Irish presenters, who seem experienced in broadcasting.

I listened briefly this morning and the same English presenter was on again as yesterday. Again, 1395 am was a better bet than 88.1 FM around my neck of the woods.

Does anyone know who the presenters are? So far, I think I heard three - I haven't been constantly listening to Soul City FM so there could be more. As I was saying in the previous post, one of them (the American-sounding guy) may possibly have been on Energy (Power) AM on that same frequency.

Are Energy taking a break and "lending" their frequency out or is there some kind of joint arrangement, ala Fun Radio before?

I had a look at their facebook page since:
    www.facebook.com/pg/soulcityfm
and I found out the following. The English presenter on both mornings until 11am was someone called Sean. The presenter from 11am to 3pm yesterday was someone called JC (the American guy I believe). The presenter yesterday from 3pm to 7pm was someone called Ryan (the second English voice I think). Someone called Andy was the presenter from 7pm to 11pm yesterday.

I heard yet another English presenter on this morning. Again, he sounded very professional and experienced. I was listening on 1395 AM on the kitchen radio. He mentioned the frequencies and said you could listen "nationwide" on 1395 AM! Really? He referred to the Dublin Bay area as well!!

Incidentally, I noticed that the 88.1 FM signal was pretty good around Nutgrove yesterday evening and 1395 AM not quite as good (when I was briefly listening to Soul City) - the opposite of Ballinteer!

The setup sounds very professional and they even had a few ads this morning. Not only that but the presenter was encouraging people to advertise with them! How long can that last? I wonder what the story with Energy AM is - are they "lending" the frequency?

I had a look at their facebook account again and two more guys were presenting over the last few days - Ron and Enda.

Apparently, this was a special arrangement just for the Easter weekend and was also available on "numerous transmitters on Short Wave".

Andy here closing the station at 11pm for our special Easter weekend broadcast. Thanks for listening to Soul City FM and a very special mention to our FM engineer and AM engineering team who have really made this happen. Thanks for listening Dublin !

It's our last day on AM and FM in Dublin. We leave 88.1 FM,1395 AM and numerous transmitters on Short Wave at 11PM tonight. We really hope you have enjoyed our programmes over the Easter Weekend.

Who else came across this station? Did anyone hear it on Short Wave?

I don't think it helped clashing with the Manx Radio /Radio Caroline North week end.
No didn't try short wave -- some interesting comments here .
