Thanks to Tesco Mobile seriously messing up I need to get two 5 inch either unlocked or unlockable phones ASAP. I would prefer shop deals because of speed but online too.

The phones have to end up on Tesco payg & are for an old lady in hospital & her husband.

    Budget of under €100

    €100 for each phone?

Huawei Y6 is not bad for €99.

Tesco mobile not listed on CPW but there's a chance they could be sim free, would have to ring and ask maybe...

Your profile says you're in Galway. In Dublin, we have lots of 'Chinese'* shops selling cheap Nokia phones (& the odd smartphone). Maybe there's similar in Galway and you could get a couple of cheap Nokias for €100-ish. My father got a very basic Nokia for c.€40 a few months back... It just does phone calls and photos.

    * I'm thinking of the phone shops in and around Parnell St & Talbot St in Dublin.

That's the obvious choice but they don't do Tesco & I am having trouble finding an unlocker for that model.

Can you buy a new phone & then get it unlocked straight away?

No not on prepay. You generally have to use about 100 quid of credit before they consider it.

You will unlock ANY phone on eBay. You need the imei and the network it's currently locked to. So if for instance if meteor have a phone that suits your needs.. You can get it unlocked immediately on eBay. Take between 1-24 hrs for code to arrive.

Alternatively buy an unlocked phone from a Chinese shop or trade in shop like cex.

The problem seems to be that no one will confirm that they can unlock it without the imei & you can't get that without buying the phone.

I have unlocked 6 phones on eBay and it has never failed me.

Is buying a tesco mobile phone possible? Argos sell sim free unlocked phones.

Tesco mobile could cut them off without notice, have a read of this thread http://www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2057590673

Can you put them on a different network?

Yes I am posting in that thread. I am getting them a couple of unlocked phones. So any grief & we can put in another sim.

They are currently on Three & spending a lot on calls. Tesco will give them free calls for 15 a month
