New Bike Suggestions

    Hey guys

About two years ago I damaged my hip and knee and was forced to stop cycling whilst I recovered. As a result I sold my bike on (Giant Defy 2) as I had nowhere to store it. With the new good weather I want to replace the bike with something. I am going to avail of B2W scheme. I want something I can take out in the evenings from the city and clock up the KMs perhaps along the coast roads or along the canal.

I want to ensure I get the best value I can without adding to it. I need new shoes and cleats (I love the Shimano shoes) and thebike I need nothing else.

Any suggestions on what I should/could go for? Thinking along the lines of the Trek 1.1 perhaps?

I maxxed out by B2W allowance for my Cannondale CAAD8 Sora. Have it a couple of weeks now and just love it. Haven't had a road bike since I finished school 26 years ago. Picked up Shimano SPD SL pedals (cleats included with those) and Shimano SPD SL shoes for about €65 on Wiggle and put those on over the weekend.

It might be a little pricier than the Trek 1.1 but my LBS recommended it for comfort and weight. Plus it's a beautiful looking bike! Matt black paint. Nice!

Sounds great, I am really open to options alright!

Where did you pick that up? I have some time this afternoon and hope to visit some bike stores. In Dublin

I got it in CyclePlus in Greystones where I live, but he doesn't always have stock - had to order mine, but the B2W process where I work is slow anyway... Hollingsworth do Cannondale, they're in Kilmacud and Templeogue. Cycle Superstore in Tallaght too.
