Looks like 2016 took another one, only discovered it now while rambling through Wikipedia.

    Who?

    Garry Shandling.
    And

    Who cares?

Anyone that knew of him even slightly I'd suggest. Used to love watching his show growing up.

Loved his interview with Gervais a few years back and the way he gave him a coldish interview because Gervais had jumped the queue with interviewing him before Shandling had felt they had initially agreed to. It's on YT someplace. Excellent.

Shortly before he died he record an episode of Comedians in Cars.. with Sienfeld. It's also excellent and very poignant is when he discussed the passing of Robin Williams, who he had been close friends with for many years.

I'd like to think that though Hank Kingsley was crushed by the news, he was still capable of attempting to milk sympathy from women at the funeral to get laid & using delivering the eulogy to pick up work from industry movers & shakers at the service.

Garry Shandling was a huge talent btw, nice tribute from Conan here:

During the recent discussions about the seemingly upsurge in celebrity deaths so far this year after Prince passed, Shandling's name was not featured in any of the lists going around.

I had heard of his passing as it did make the news over here alright albeit not as mainstream as even the likes of David Gest etc. The Larry Sanders show would have been quite big back in the 90s particularly in America (I lived in the US then so that's how I got to know him).

Granted he possibly wasn't as well known on this side of the pond and especially by younger posters maybe but quite tactless to say "who cares" just because they're unknown to a poster....

Obviously you care enough to claim to not care enough, on a thread that you could have easily just ignored entirely.

    Good man yourself.
