Hi All My husband (French) has property in France but works and lives in Ireland. We're looking into drawing up our will, and wondered: is it necessary to draw up two (Irish & French) or is one from his resident country sufficient? As in, will the Irish will (sorry!) be legally recognized in relation to foreign property?…

Hi All

My husband (French) has property in France but works and lives in Ireland.

We're looking into drawing up our will, and wondered: is it necessary to draw up two (Irish & French) or is one from his resident country sufficient? As in, will the Irish will (sorry!) be legally recognized in relation to foreign property?

Apparently in France, if no will exists - all assets can be claimed by the government.

Any advice?

Inheritance in France is very tricky....I used to have a holiday home there, and knew several other ex pats with holiday homes. The line most people seemed to take was to make a will in France when buying property there.
