Head out to swim kit in the national aquatic centre. They will help you out.

    Swim kit.ie

I think what your looking for are called jammers.

Best of luck in the civility championships in your speedy togs.

    Great selection here:

Stay away from the baggy ones, only non swimmers wear them.

You can beat Speedo endurance jammer.

Most of the guys I see at the swimming pool wear either:

    * jammers, which are slightly longer (like these)

    * or shorts, but not the baggy, surfer-type shorts - more like these.

So I would recommend getting something like the above, depending on which appeal to you more - most sports shops will have plain black men's jammers or shorts, or you could check out swimkit.ie for a bigger choice.

You also wouldn't look massively out of place if you wore those surfer-type shorts, but they do become very heavy and uncomfortable once wet, so I'd recommend the first two options above those.

If you're just going for a splash around then the surfer shorts will be grand :) If you're thinking about, or do ever decide, to do swimming more for fitness then have a think about the jammers or shorts, you'll find it easier. Have a look at what the other guys in the pool are wearing and you'll get a sense of it all.
