I'm thinking about an estate around 2012-2013... Any obvious pros/cons?

With it being a hybrid, there will be a bit of VRT relief...

Early models have proven to be quite unreliable unfortunately. We had at least 3 2014 versions on the road and at least 2 have had multiple visit's back to the dealers for warning lights and transmission issues.

Were they definately around in 12/13? I thought late 13 was when they came to the Irish market, but UK may have got them sooner.

http://evcompare.ie/ev-and-hybrid-motor-tax-and-vrt has some info about VRT relief - looks like it's less than a grand on a 4 year old Hybrid.

There are a few 2012 on Autotrader, but majority is 2013.
    I'll pass anyway, thanks.

Any other recommendations for an automatic estate that is not a VAG and not a Mondeo? Saab 95 would be interesting - but the last generation was only a saloon.

    Petrol or diesel?

Volvo V70 (the T5 is the pick of the bunch if you can stomach tax and fuel costs, very good diesels), Jag X-Type estate (couple years older but with the 2.5 V6 petrol it's a little gem, the diesel is also very decent, not certain what autobox they use though), Merc E-Class (any diesel bar the entry level one are good, not certain about petrol, but I heard good things).

Smaller but might be worth a look, auris hybrid estate, same bulletproof drivetrain as a prius with OK looks (IMO)

Looking at a 2014 E300 Estate. VRT is about €4,000 on the car.

    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201703103147701?sort=price-asc&keywords=hybrid&body-type=Estate&radius=1500&postcode=cb10ae&model=E%20CLASS&year-to=2015&year-from=2014&advertising-location=at_cars&make=MERCEDES-BENZ&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&page=1

Just worried about the hybrid element and if something goes wrong, could be very expensive? It will be fairly lightly driven, about 10000 miles a year max.

    thoughts?
