From looking at various reviews it seems impossible to get waterproof overshoes

    Any recommendations ?

These are the best I've used. Can be a little warm but pretty good regardless.

The fabric is quite thick and heavy so worth sizing up.

I presume these are the same and price is similar-ish.

When it's really bad I use castelli nanos under my regular overshoes to seal everything in.

    Works great

I have the overshoes linked by @TopSideControl and they're fine. They are in no way waterproof however.

I bought the Galibier Depart Ergofit overshoes for the winter just gone and found them excellent. Warmer than the Endura ones and infinitely more waterproof.

What I do also is put a silicone sealant in the airhole on the sole of the shoe. This is where most water gets in and it also helps to keep the cold out.

(Galibier site blocked here in work for some reason so can't link to the overshoes)

Based on my experience they are but YMMV. I'm hardly just going to lie about it.

Wow. Wasn't having a go at you.

As you say YMMV and after 30 - 40 minutes or so into a spin on a wet day these let in water. They'd be grand for short spins/commutes but not for anything longer.

I was going to buy these Shimano ones when I was looking for a new pair a few months ago but couldn't get them in my size (sold out in a few places)
    They get good reviews

maybe this was your issue and not the overshoes.

    No!
Have had the airholes filled on shoes for a log time now.
Get very cold feet in winter and have tried most tricks in the book to help keep them warm. Still looking for the right pair of socks because I reckon they're probably more important for warmth than overshoes.

      * Front mudguard with a flap
      * winter boots (weak point is sealing opening at top in monsoon like rain)
      * pedal like a lunatic!
      * A warm core will mean less likely heat is withdrawn for toes/feet

Best part of winter boots is less faff. I'm just about to start wearing summer shoes now. Winter boots from late October till now

+1 on Endura Road Overshoes. Of course they will let water in in a downpour if your leggings go down into them, that's normal seepage. But against bare legs they are fully waterproof on top, unless you have stick insect legs. Water getting in at the bottom is a shoe sealing issue. They are also surprisingly hard wearing for something which uses bare neoprene.

Cheers. Have the mudguards alright. Couldn't be without them. I'll have to look into winter boots for next winter so.

Have you a link to the boots you have?
