Leaving job to start business

Hello folks, just wondering if anyone has been in the same situation as me.
I've been working for the past 8 months, and am going to leave it soon with the thoughts of setting up my own business.
Before I do this, I'm doing an 'unofficial' internship in the area I'm looking to start up - someone is taking me on as work experience (unpaid) til I'm trained up enough.
I know after leaving a job that I wouldn't be able to claim for 9 weeks, but does the fact that I won't be actually officially looking for another job mean I wouldn't be able to claim? Even as it was before I started working I was only getting €40 a week so it's not too big of a deal (23, living at home) but it would be nice if I had something coming in for those few weeks!
    Thanks :)

You also need to have been working 2 years paying your PRSI to have full entitlement to claim, as you have only been working 8 months you will be means tested. If your not available for work which you won't be you won't be able to claim.
