I'm about to fit a similar device in my Citroen, but don't foresee much dismantling..

If you have the keys to remove the radio, there should be room to leave the box in behind, and you just need to find somewhere to run the 3.5mm plug out to where you'll be needing it..

If the ashtray is below the stereo, and you're a non-smoker, you could maybe drill a hole in the back and run the cable through there - the cable would tidy away nicely in the ashtray when not in use..

Incidentally, if you're interested in making your stereo Bluetooth-ready, I also got one of these today for £2.98 delivered, and it works a treat :)

    Oh, just one more thing..

On my stereo, the device I'll be using plugs into the spare socket where a CD changer usually goes - the only thing is you need to hook into the car's BSI to tell it the CD changer is present - (usually a dealer job unless you have the software & ODB connector)..

I'm not sure if it's a similar set-up on the Golf, but might be worth googling if you have problems when you hook it up...

    Cheers for the comments UTW.

Yes I have ODB kit and have seen the steps to do this but just wondering if there is a pro that can do this for a reasonable price.
