If theres no line in place OpenEir have a two part task. One tech installs the line and gets dial tone, a second 5-10 days does broadband. If its fiber that second guy comes to your house, older ADSL (24Mb) and its done at the exchange. Postie delivers the modem on behalf of your operator.

The line is active after he was finished.. I'm hoping it might come in the post tomorrow Id hate to have to wait another week

Standard practice with Eir and Vodafone, probably Sky too, is to have the modem delivered a few days before its needed so if its not there yet I'd guesstimate Friday/Monday for going fully live.

If it's Sky the bring you the router the day of the installation at least for fibre anyway. The others all deliver via An Post.
