Disciplinary Hearings

Are there any accessible public records listing disciplinary hearings and strike off applications that were taken by the Law Society (of a historic nature)? Are these cases listed in the law gazette for the relevant year? Also, are strike-off applications listed on Bailii?

They are published in the Gazette in chronological order, but proceedings that result in strike off aren't differentiated from the others and aren't searchable as such.

There is an online disciplinary record that is searchable by name and location on the Law Society site, under the 'public' tab.

Apart from that, you could search the Gazette indices, also online, for the term 'struck from' and/or 'roll of solicitors'.

Further to the above, if you wish to know about a specific individual, you can ring the Law Society and ask.

Will they confirm whether a person has been struck off, or will they merely confirm whether or not s/he is not currently on the Roll?

They can confirm if there has been regulatory action taken against a solicitor that led to them being struck off. Do the law society store records that are closed pursuant to regulatory action indefinitely or for a defined period?

All strike offs are published in Iris Oifiguil. For some reason it is not searchable at the moment.
