Volkswagen Polo starting problem

    Driving a 96 Polo and sometimes when i go to start it will start fine and then just cut out after about two seconds. It usually goes after 15 - 20 minutes of trying or with a shove and once its its started it goes not a bother. It does seems to be getting worse as its doing it more often now could it be the starter going in her I don't know much about cars myself so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    When was it last serviced?
    Is there any smoke from the exhaust on startup? White/blue?
    When did you last change battery?

    It was last serviced about a month and a bit ago it passed the nct the start of April I had the battery replaced about two weeks ago a friend of mine replaced the one that was in it for me as I thought the battery was ****ed??

    Is the new battery actually new do you know and did you have the exact same problem with both the old one and this one? Is it slow cranking?

    I had the same problem with the old battery aswell I thought it was something wrong with it so I put another one in seemed to be ok only its started doing it again shell start up and just cut out after 2-3 seconds

    Tbh, just take it to a mechanic. We can guess over and over but it should only take a mech a short while to deduce why it's acting up.
