    Hi LuckyDude12,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

There is no change to the legal position in relation to water charges. Please see here for a full list of our payment methods.

If you have any further queries, feel free to let us know and we will be happy to help.

    Kind regards,
    Amy

I received a letter yesterday to say that I owe you €32.32.

So are water charges suspended or not?

I wish someone would confirm this mess asap.

No final policy change resulting from current political talks has been conveyed to Irish Water.

As soon as we are informed by the government of any final policy decisions that affect Irish Water or water charges we will provide an update to our customers.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

All the news the media is at the end of the current billing cycle which is reported as end of June . I'd imagine newstalk andothers would be quoting reliable sources, however I wouldn't expect any news from IW here untill after that date.

There is no mess. There is no suspension as yet and under the law of the land, you owe IW 32.32

Well now, I consider it a mess, I just got a 'you still have not paid your bill' email, for April. In fact I missed that date as my husband passed away that week, though of course IW could not know that. However all my other payments were made, whereas something like half the country have not paid at all and it is not looking likely that any sanctions will be imposed on them. So why should I keep paying? I do not object to paying my water bill, at all, but the situation does need to be sorted; I am paying just because of a political squabble, which is out of all proportion to its importance.

So, Irish Water, will we be refunded? Will there be any sanctions against non-payers? I do not even have a meter yet and I am now living alone.

Please accept our condolences and we are very sorry to hear about your loss.

Currently, there has been no final policy change as a result of political talks directly conveyed to Irish Water in relation to charges. As soon as we receive any update on this, we will notify customers as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

We have been advised by the Government to continue to issue bills for the 5th billing cycle, which covers water usage up to the 31st of March. As per Government decision, billing is to be suspended once this bill cycle is completed.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

Yes you wont get mortgages or loans in the future if you dont pay IW.

Not as things stand. They would need to go chasing payments and forwarding defaults to the ICB.
