I won't ruin it for anyone else yet to see it but jesus I was gutted at the end of it. Usually I'm so desensitised to violence and brutality from horrors and video games but my God my heart went out to ####.

When I was watching it unfold. Literally like last 2 minutes of the episode I was hoping it was another dream sequence. praying that it was. God I feel like such a knob! Anyone else feel weird watching this bit? What did you think?

Back in the day Dexter had his own forum.

Here's the thread for the season 4 final episode - 4x12 - "The Getaway"

Aw didn't know that did a search but the Internet was so slow I didn't bother waiting.

Been reading the comments on that thread and delighted I'm not alone:) came as a shock to everyone apparently. Effing fantastic I didn't spoil it before I watched it!

My advice : stop watching now. It's only downhill from now and some of the latter seasons are truly dire.

Wow, Dexter, there's a Ghost of TV Shows Past. I second that comment about bailing now. The shows decline in quality after season 4 is so steep, even ski jumpers would have second thoughts

Season 4 was unbelievable. I did enjoy some of the seasons after but it never reached those heights again and the finale was shocking!

Yeah stop now, it's all downhill from here. Season 4 is great though.

Yep, I'll agree with everyone else. Just stop right now and dont watch anymore.

Let that final scene be the very end for you and come to your own conclusion to how the series ends because it will 100% be better than what the writers came up with.

Jesus I have to watch it now to see how bad it is;) and I bet I'll be giving out then later saying why did I watch this ####?

Was reading another guys accounts very similar to mine, he watched all 4 seasons in quick succession and he couldn't believe he was bawling his eyes out! Good auld TV!

Seriously, don't do it to yourself. If you stop at Season 4 Finale it's a quality show and one for the history books, seasons 5-8 just ruin that entirely.

Oh no stick with it really the last scene of the shows finale is maybe the greatest moment in tv history.

I quite enjoyed Season 5 too, but stopped halfway through 6 as it was terrible.

I'm intrigued now I'll have to watch it to see how bad it gets. I heard one of the writers quit in season 4 maybe he was holding it together;)

Off the top of my head, it was the showrunner of the first 4 seasons who left.

Season 3 was a bit of a dip and I was losing interest in the show around then but John Lithgow really carried season 4 and kept me around.

Still, the show was beginning to crack at that stage and I was completely gone after few episodes into Season 5. GF kept watching it though but I was glad to hear I jumped ship early when I heard how utterly shít the show got.

I still think killing Doakes off so early was a mistake :pac:

I just finished season 5, and thought that was pretty good as well. I do expect a serious drop in quality over the next 3 seasons though.
