Insurance headaches

Hi, I'm currently looking at buying something along the lines of a corolla/auris but I'm getting extortionate quotes. I'm 21 with a provisional, named driver since January and female. Is anyone in a similar position? Also do any insurance companies cover learners on their own anymore? Thanks.

Boxymo is an option, but it doesn't suit everybody. They put a black box in your car that tracks your mileage and speeds.

I know AXA offer an app that monitors your driving and they take a couple of 100 euro off your quote.
Is there absolutely no one that would put you down as a named driver?
The reason I ask is you are going to get extortionate quotes otherwise.
Also as a learner driver your going to have to keep engine size in mind an engine above 1-1.2L really isn't an option

As an owner of a year old full license and still paying close to 2k for third party insurance I feel for you.

As for your question about insuring Learn Drivers I would doubt it's a runner at all. Most insurers will either flat refuse or quote you an exorbitant price.

When I went out on my own after buying my car some insurance companies flat refused to give me a quote because they wouldn't recognise my provisional experience. To this day I still don't fully understand why they refused to quote me but I'm telling you to give you an example of how difficult a driver with a full licence found it to get insurance.

    Best of luck.

I am getting quotes now as a learner driver and it makes little to no difference if it's a 1l or a 1.6l. I was quoted 3200 for a 1l Fiesta and 3400 for a 1.6 Focus. The whole engine size effecting a quote is not really a factor when you are a learner as your are being loaded anyway.

Insurance is tough for everyone these days. Keep in mind that insurers are reluctant to insure cars 10 years or older. Absolutely ridiculous, but it is what it is.

How long before you take your driving test? A full license will help
