    Hi all,
I'm looking for 5 AA weanling bullocks for the farm at home. Any advice on whether to buy privately or at the mart along with the kind of prices AA weanling bullocks are making at the moment would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you're buying private off done deal most of the time it will be a dealer selling them passing them off as his own. Better off buying in the mart as for prices you'd have to go to the mart and see.

Last day I was in the mart 280 kgs AA bullocks were making 700 euro. Stupid money for them. Bought Fresians bullocks as follows

3X370 kgs 600euro not an even bunch at least 100kgs between heavist and lightist good middle of the road types
1X300 kgs 470 euro good square yearling
8X305 kgs 435 euro mixed bag 3 Holstein type, other 6 goodish middle of the road, squeezed but still a bit bullish as sac's not fully shrunk.

Average 320kgs landed in the yard for less than 500/head inc transport and fees

If I was buying I try to buy in the mart but unless you are experienced at it you will get rode a bit by the dealers. However we all had to start somewhere. If buying privately you would want to be good at weights andquality.

That for the reply Bass. They are mad money in the marts from what I see in the journal too. Someone mentioned getting a few cull cows instead as they'd leave more money when fattened up

I'll stay away from the heifers.. too many bulls in surrounding lands.
