    Hi guys,

My head is melted with ideas and I need some clarity. I've just been laid off and it's been years since we've had a holiday.
The kids are 6 and 11 and we've decided we deserved a break at last.
Any ideas for us? We're certainly not flush but don't want to slum it either.
Somewhere fairly quiet with a nice pool, nice views, stuff for the kids and adults to enjoy. Somewhere we don't have to drive as hubby wants a break from driving too.
We've been thinking Italy, Portugal maybe.
    Thanks for any advice!:)

Just back from lake garda , stayed at bell itallia campsite , kids had a ball ! Younger than yours so u would have more freedom.

Beautiful spot lots to do , percheria del garda 10 min walk , boat trips up the lake to different villages , bus outside gate to sirimone,
gardaland rollercoasters n rides plus free bus in percheria.

Serveral pools in campsite , lidl up the road or v nice eatieries in village , la plume was top class !

Fly to Verona, 20 min transfer with 2 hour flight time. Enjoy !

    Hi there
I would suggest Bella Italia in Lake Garda as its very family orientated and as mentioned and there is lots for the kids to do such as Garda Land and the Italians are extremely child friendly and its only a 2hr 20 min flight from Ireland and even the campsite has everything you need on them.

I'd recommend a campsite holiday for a start. It's the ultimate family oriented holiday with something for everyone. Try to get one on a beach with direct access if possible.
Fly drive is the best option at this stage but otherwise I'd say hop a ferry to France and bring your own car.

We've been to France maybe 13 years now and our kids still love it. Their favourite site is camping atlantique in Fouesnant. Great pools, direct beach access, excellent cycle paths directly from the site. Weather on Brittany is akin to Cork on a good summer.

I would agree 100% with the campsite recommendations. We had our first one in France when our kids were 10 and 7. We had our final one last year when they were 19 and 16. We've alternated between France and Italy and loved every holiday. The campsites are so well equipped. There is something for everyone from kids clubs to bars and restaurants. Most have playgrounds and things like pool tables and table tennis. Lake Garda is fab. It's so scenic and the kids will love gardaland. The weather is generally pretty good on the south side of the lake which is where most of the campsites are situated. Go. Enjoy. I only wish I was going too.

I'd second Lake Garda also! We flew to Milan Linate in the morning Aer Lingus. Bus to Milan Centrale train station about 40 minutes. Trains every hour or less to Peschiera del Garda. Cost about 10 or 11 euro each. We stayed in Bella Italia once and Camping del Garda the second time. Both sites fantastic. Gardaland very accessible. Verona well worth a visit. As is Venice! An amazing place. We stayed for two weeks and flew back on an evening flight Aer Lingus from Milan Malpensa. We were able to take our time coming back by flying back in the evening.

Actually meant to say no need at all for a car. My hubby wanted a break from driving too. We went everywhere by train . It was very good value and very reliable.

Just back from a family campsite holiday in Italy. Can't recommend it enough. Lake Garda is beautiful, some great sites there. We stayed in Camping Gasparina, well equipped close to Gardaland, Movie land and the water park are near by also. You won't regret it. You can book it all yourself. Contact the site you choose directly book your flights hire a car not overly costly and gives great freedom.Enjoy.

Brilliant information, thanks so much! I'll nose those campsites this evening and make a decision. Sounds ideal. Can't wait now!
