    Hello, i have a 1.4 petrol golf - its a 07
Today i was driving it for about half an hour, when i got home i could smell a burning smell (like the clutch) the smell was coming from the left back arch- i could feel the heat coming out of there, the exhaust could have a hole as its a bit louder than usual and its wet today if that makes a difference

    any help please?

Touch the alloy, is it hotter than the other three?
If so the caliper is sticking and you need to take it apart and fix it.
    Are you handy around cars?

No, you won't **** up the brake discs ("rotors" is American English) with a sezied caliper.
Next time you drive it, check afterwards if that steel is hotter than the others, and report back.

Hmm, that sounds odd. The alloys/steels shouldn't be "hot" (too hot to touch) at all.
The main brakes are on the fronts so the rear wheels should be cool to touch and not even warm.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough, I meant to say all 4 discs are hot (to hot to put finger on) but that's normal , steelies were only Luke warm
