Mortar mix for sandstone house wall with white pointing

We are looking to get something looking like the attached image.

We have order the Donegal Sandstone and are just curious as to the best mortar mix to use.
Our builder is employing the stone mason but I want to have some info to make sure he knows what he's doing.

From the little research I done it seems:
    - The mortar mix should be a little weaker than the stone
    - Lime based mixes allow the wall to breathe and prevent damage to the stone over time (Which cement can cause).
    - Lime based mixes are less likely to crack and break up due to weather temperature changes.

Please feel free to correct and add to anything I've mentioned.

is this just a facade or is it part of the wall structure?
if the latter where is the dpc in the wall, it can be seen in the structures left and right in the picture

Already have cavity wall up, it will wrap around this with 150mm pieces of stone.

I wonder is there a premixed mix for pointing that type of jointing .
Ask the stone supplier and they should know the right stuff

Thanks but what is the dpc detail or is it held off the outer cavity block so it is really a rain facade?

Am just wondering/ trying to get you thinking:)

Thanks for this, and I thought space shuttle design was hard LOL

In passing, if the limestone is random shape, and not lego so I don't think the F30/07 dpc detail as shown will work on site so maybe drop the outer leaf dpc down behind the stone

    Again just from site experience....
