The Emerald Isle Explorer tour will be in Cork in June

To be fair - they choose a different destination each year - it moves all across the network from one year to the next.

The international tour was in Cork and Kerry last year.

The 'network' - makes it sound like there are places of interest still to be reached. When I stopped going on the 2-day tour in the early 1980s there was still plenty to see other than flattened freight yards, demolished loco sheds, car parks and palisade fencing.

Well mercifully I am not as bitter about everything in life as you appear to be (from reading your posts).

If only you knew - there's few people less bitter about their lot in life. Anyway, my bitterness, or the lack of, has little to do with traveling around the country looking at what CIE's scorched earth policy has done to the railway 'network'.

If I get a regular train to Claremorris can I get a ticket on the steam train back to Ballina.

Unfortunately not, the Saturday, Sunday and Monday steam tour is sold as a package and individual days are not available.

Thanks for the info. Mayo will echo to the sound of steam trains once again. Great.
