Ive been getting illness benefit since December and have been sending in my certs to work everyweek. I dont get paid sick pay from my employer so i only get the state benefit.
Anyway, im considering telling my employer that i wont be returning to my job as i really dont know when i will be fit to return and im sick of worrying about my return .....
Can i continue to keep claiming illness benefit after i do that? I thought if i left my job i would only get Job seekers but at the minute im not fit to work.

There would be no point in giving up your job while out sick, try and wait till you are better and then decide.Illness benefit can last for up to 2 years.

You don't have to be employed to quailify for Illness Benefit.
If you want to resign , go right ahead, it won't affect your entitlement.
I know sometimes employers can make life difficult when your out sick, which doesn't help.

I've never been off sick before so still unsure about the whole process.
But yes I was thinking that is the best thing for me to do at the minute.
One less thing to worry about.
    Thanks

No point applying for Jobseekers if your not fit for work
